The Non-renewable License is for those with a specific skill for which a district has a demonstrated need.

Notes
The school administration must demonstrate a need for a community expert where no licensed or limited licensed teachers can fill the position. The school district must submit candidate's application to the Minnesota Board of Teaching Applicants may work toward Full Professional License while teaching.
Minimum Academic Background
In most states, teachers must have a minimum academic background for certification.
The following is required for this route:
BA Degree + Completed State Approved Teacher Education Program
Prior Certification: Must NOT have Current (STATE) Certification
Notes
The Board of Teaching will examine applicant's qualifications, the need for variance from normal teacher requirements, and the school's need for a non-licensed teacher. As of 2016, No Basic Skills Exams Required
Notes:
Other listed languages: Norwegian, Native American: Ojibwe, Swedish. Non-licensed expert must have demonstrated expertise in area of need for the district.

District plan will describe time frame of employment for Non-Licensed Community Expert.
Notes:
Applicant approval may depend on the contents of the school district's plan including content areas they will teach and the district's efforts to hire certified teachers.
