Experienced Educator Certificate (Alternative 2 and Alternative 3a/3b Paths) (NH)

Description
This certificate is for applicants who are certified from another state (Alternative 2) OR wish to be certified through an alternative certification process (Alternative 3A/3B).
Certificate Valid for 3 years
Applicant must have at least 3 years of full time experience in K-12, and deemed effective for at least 2 consecutive years by a local evaluation system.

Minimum Academic Background
In most states, teachers must have a minimum academic background for certification.

BA Degree + Completed State Approved Teacher Education Program

Prior Certification: Posses current state certificate or out of state certificate depending on path being pursued (see section 8)

The NH BoE adopted the ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) as a means for World Language candidates to re-establish proficiency in languages where Praxis is not offered.

Applicant must develop an individual professional development plan for a 3 year period.

Applicant needs minimum of 75 continuing education units (hours) for recertification. An additional 30 continuing education units is required for each additional endorsement area.

Applicants may renew either online or by mail. Superintendent must first recommend the applicant on-line before the applicant is able to login and renew the license.

GENERAL NOTES FOR THIS ROUTE
*ALTERNATIVE 2* is where the New Hampshire recognizes training and certification in other states and countries and territories of the United States.
I. Members of Interstate Agreement (NASDTEC):
A. Requirements:
(1) Completed application.
(2) Original official transcript AND/OR an official statement of completed program
(3) A NON-REFUNDABLE application fee of $130.00; make check payable to STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE.
B. Holders of valid certification, BA or higher degree and with at least 3 years successful
regular teaching experience in the past 7 years under certificates in Interstate Certification Contract states
(1) Completed application.
(2) A copy of the valid credential (front and back).
(3) Original letter of verification from school(s) where you were employed identifying your major teaching assignment(s).
(4) A NON-REFUNDABLE application fee of $130.00; make check payable to STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE.
(5) Official transcripts.
II. Non-members of Interstate Agreement:
May be eligible for certification in New Hampshire if programs are comparable with those in New Hampshire. Contact Maine DoE for more info

*ALTERNATIVE 3* is a certification process designed for candidates who have gained the competencies, skills, and knowledge through means other than Alternative 1 or Alternative 2. Alternative 3A is a process that includes both written examination and oral review. Alternative 3B is a process that recognizes National or regional licensure.

Alternative 3A, submit the following:
(1) completed application;
(2) letter of intent from the candidate to pursue Alternative 3;
(3) official college transcripts;
(4) 3 months full time teaching. Details are available from the Bureau. Upon receipt of these items detailed procedures and list of additional materials required will be mailed to you if you qualify. The NON-REFUNDABLE $300.00 processing fee for Alternative 3A is due at the time of submission of the additional required materials. There is no fee submitted with the application.

Alternative 3B, submit the following:
(1) completed application;
(2) copy of National or Regional licensure;
(3) official college transcripts;
(4) $130.00 certification fee for initial certification, or $20.00 if adding an endorsement to an existing New
Hampshire credential. Make check payable to State of New Hampshire.
