Notes
Wyoming generally recognizes all out-of-state teaching licenses if the standards the applicant met in his or her state are equivalent to Wyoming licensing standards. Equivalent standards include:

Supervised student teaching.

Passing the required test(s) for the state in which applicant holds a teaching license.

Added endorsements are recognized in the same manner as described above.

Minimum Academic Background
In most states, teachers must have a minimum academic background for certification.

Prior Certification: May hold certification and use this route for additional endorsements or may follow this route if not certified.

Wyoming accepts all nationally accredited teacher programs as long as they include a student teaching component.

ACTFL OPI accepted for Modern World Languages.

Demonstration of Knowledge through Examination

If applicant has not completed coursework to meet the requirement of U.S. and Wyoming Constitution Study, he/she may demonstrate knowledge through an exam. The Professional Teaching Standards Board (PTSB) has created two multiple choice exams which may be taken at any Wyoming school district administration office or the Professional Teaching Standards Board office.

Out of State applicants residing out of state at the time of application may take exams by proxy. To have the test sent to a proctor, please send an email to ptsbtemp@wyo.gov and submit a written request including the proctor’s full name, title and contact information including email and/or mailing address. Proctors must be a school district administrator or a university/college professor.

Processing time is estimated at 6-8 weeks during summer months. It may be faster during the school year. Processing time is dependent on complete applications.

To request a Fingerprint Packet, please send an email with your Name, Phone Number and Mailing Address with the subject heading FINGERPRINT CARD REQUEST to the following email address: ptsbtemp@wyo.gov.

Applicants MUST be fingerprinted in the state of WYOMING. Applicants can contact a local school district for a recommendation on where to be fingerprinted within your community.

Fingerprint Fee of $50.00 must be included with application.
