International and Guest Teacher Exchange Pathway (WI)

Description
The International and Guest Teacher Exchange Pathway is for applicants who are being supported by a Wisconsin public school district as part of an international teaching exchange program or as an international guest teacher.
Time-limited license Valid for 1-3 years depending on the sponsoring organization
Applicants must be fluent in English and be verified non-US citizens.

Minimum Academic Background
In most states, teachers must have a minimum academic background for certification.
The following is required for this route:
BA Degree + Completed State Approved Teacher Education Program

Prior Certification: Must Hold Out of Country Certification

As of 2016, No Basic Skills Exams Required

Work Experience
In some states, teachers are required to provide evidence of work experience.
The following is required for this route:
3 Out of the Country years.

Notes:
Wisconsin allows for “other foreign languages” than the ones listed on their site but do not specify. Contact the DPI if they can endorse a language not listed on the Wisconsin site.

Paper fingerprint cards are only available for applicants who do not live in the United States. Request from DPI at fingerprints@dpi.wi.gov

Notice: Complete credential review is not required for a license, but applicants who wish to take additional coursework in the U.S. may consider a full course-by-course credential review.
