To convert to a Five Year Alternate Route license:

1. Secure a teaching position.
2. Complete 6 additional hours of coursework to include supervised internship
3. Secure Verification of Program Completion
4. Apply for a Five Year Alternate Route License

NOTE: If the applicant has also graduated from a Master’s degree program, an application to “upgrade” the license should be submitted. Choose “upgrade” from the applications button in the ELMS account. The official transcript submitted for an “upgrade” must show a conferred Master’s degree.
