In most states, teachers are required to submit evidence of content language proficiency and English language proficiency through coursework, exams, or degree evaluations.

Tribal assessment for Native American Languages with no exam.

Oklahoma offers teaching licenses in the following Native American languages: Cherokee, Choctaw, Sauk, Osage. Additional Native American language certificates may be obtained.

Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in the Native American Language sought through an assessment determined by a federally-recognized tribe or tribal entity.
