The One-Year Certificate (Out Of State Certified Educators) is for applicants who hold a standard certificate issued by another state or United States territory and are seeking certification in Texas. Out-of-state certified teachers must apply for a review of credentials.

Minimum Academic Background

GENERAL NOTES FOR THIS ROUTE
Upon completion of all testing requirements, individuals may apply for the Standard Certificate.

Applicants may apply for a one year certificate during the evaluation process to determine if content and pedagogy exams are required and/or to take those required exams.

Educators who have completed the review of credentials and are found to be eligible may be issued a One Year Certificate. During the one year period of this nonrenewable certificate, the educator must complete all appropriate tests.

Educators who have completed a test that is found to be comparable to a Texas test, may request an exemption from the Texas test.
