This certificate has unlimited renewals as long as the educator maintains good standing.

Minimum Academic Background
In most states, teachers must have a minimum academic background for certification.
The following is required for this route:
BA Degree + Completed State Approved Teacher Education Program

GPA: 2.7

Prior Certification: Must Hold Current (STATE) Certification

Basic Skills
In most states, teachers must verify basic skills in English (Reading and Writing) and Mathematics through coursework, exams, or degree evaluations.
The following is required for this route:

Notes
Minimum Academic Background Requirements should have already been fulfilled earlier since applicant has an Initial Educator Certificate.

Praxis I scores are no longer recognized.

Applicants must have a BA + Completed teacher program

Out of State BA + Completed Out of State teacher program (Approved by CHEA)

OR

BA + Content Area Program + Guam Professional Teacher Standards Program

Teacher Preparation
In most states, teachers are required to complete training in education methods through a teacher program.

In most states, teachers are required to submit evidence of content language proficiency and English language proficiency through coursework, exams, or degree evaluations.

Notes:
To qualify for the Professional Educator Certificate:
Guam History/Guam Culture Reqs.
60 Clock Hours of Professional Activities
Satisfactory Performance evaluation and/or completion of professional Growth Plan as approved by on-site administrator.
Completion of 1 year mentorship in a Guam school

AND

Completion of 2 years as an IE Certificate Holder

Content Language Requirements may be met by a degree in the language or a passing score on the Praxis II Exam.

Guam accepts Praxis II for Chinese – Mandarin.

Praxis II test passing scores adopted by the State of Hawaii are acceptable for other content languages. Contact Guam Certification for more information.

In most states, teachers must apply to the state Individually or through their local School District, or Teacher Program Institution. Requirements for the application are outlined below:
