The Temporary Limited License is issued to a candidate who either (1) Has a completed BA with at least a minor in the content area but who has not yet completed an approved teacher program, provided that a hiring school district verifies its inability to hire an appropriately licensed teacher for the position, or (2) Has completed a Minnesota teacher preparation program but has not yet passed all required licensure exams.
License Valid for 1 year
Must have at least a minor in the certification area requested.
In most states, teachers must have a minimum academic background for certification.
The following is required for this route:
BA Degree + Major in Content Language
Must NOT have Current (STATE) Certification
Must have at least a minor in the Content Language. Applicants must pass required exams to upgrade to Full License.
As of 2016, No Basic Skills Exams Required
Applicants must be enrolled or intend to enroll in a teacher program.

Limited license may be renewed a maximum of 2 times to allow teacher to finish teacher program and tests/coursework under the Full Professional Teachers License.
Sufficient progress on complete teacher program and all required tests. A designated administrator of the employing public school district or charter school signs the Limited Full-Time License Information/District Information form.
