Traditional Route (Initial Certificate) (MO)

Description
An individual completes a four-year, college-recommended course of study, does student teaching, passes the designated assessment test, and graduates with a bachelor’s degree in a field of education and is issued an initial certificate.

No exam required for Japanese, Latin, Russian

GRADES Kad-12: Thirty (30) semester hours in the Foreign Language to be taught, or (27) semester hours plus two (2) or more earned units of high school credit in that language.

GRADES Kad-9*: Twentyad-one (21) semester hours in the Foreign Language to be taught, or eighteen (18) semester hours plus two (2)  or more earned units of high school credit in that language.

In addition to an understanding and appreciation of the foreign culture and civilization, the prospective teacher will demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the degree granting institution, proficiency in the areas of listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing.

*Teachers must be certificated in another elementary, middle school, or secondary teaching field.
