Description
The Reciprocity License is for applicants who possess an out-of-state license. The license is for 2 years if the applicant has not met minimum requirements for certification. If all requirements are met then they will get a 5 year license.

Ten (10) continuing education units (CEUs) in content or job/skill related area OR Three (3) semester hours in content or job/skill related area AND Five (5) continuing education units (CEUs) in content or job/skill related area OR Six (6) semester hours in content or job/skill related area OR Completion of the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards process

The two-year Reciprocity license is non-renewable. It is only issued on the bachelor level. To convert this provisional license to a five year renewable license, the applicant must meet all requirements for a five year license in Mississippi which includes testing.

Applicant will be issued a Class A, AA, AAA, or AAAA educator licenses based on credential review (for five year reciprocity license only).

GENERAL NOTES FOR THIS ROUTE
A five year license is granted to applicants who hold a valid standard out-of-state license (K-12) in an area in which Mississippi issues an endorsement. The department shall grant a standard license to any individual who possesses a valid standard license from another state and meets minimum Mississippi license requirements or equivalent requirements as determined by the State Board of Education.

Any applicant with a valid credential less than a standard (provisional) license or certificate from another state may apply for a two-year educator license through Reciprocity. A two-year Reciprocity license is non-renewable. It is only issued on the bachelor level. To convert this provisional license to a five year renewable license, the applicant must meet all requirements for a five year license in Mississippi. (See guidelines)

***The Office of Educator Licensure will no longer approve educator licensure applications for individuals seeking certification via international reciprocity. The MS Department of Education will honor all current, valid MS licenses obtained through international reciprocity. However, all who request renewal of such license must meet current certification requirements at that time.
