Educators who have not completed an educator preparation program (as in the Traditional Certification Route) and do not have the experience to waive the planned program requirement (as in the Certification based on Teaching Experience route) should seek academic advisement from regionally accredited colleges or universities with state-approved programs in the area they would like to teach. The educator preparation program requirement for certification can be met either as part of the undergraduate coursework (e.g. earning a BA in Education), or by applying to and graduating from a post-baccalaureate educator preparation program after earning the bachelor’s degree. To find programs offering certification as part of the master’s degree, consult the TEACH Connecticut website.
