Description

The traditional certification route applies to those who has graduated from a teacher preparation program and met all of the certification requirements. Initially, the applicants can qualify for the Preliminary License. The early career teachers can advance to the Professional Teaching License. The Professional Teaching License has two separate requirements: Experience and Advanced Professional Development (APD). Teachers may meet the experience requirement for the Professional Teaching License with either four full years (at least 135 days) or 0.5 to 0.99 FTE for six years. The Professional Teaching License signifies that the educator is an experienced teacher who has successfully demonstrated an advanced level of educator knowledge and skills.
