Introduced in 2017 to help solve the severe shortage of qualified teachers in Arizona, the Arizona Teacher Academy Program offers free tuition to pursue a degree in education at one of the state’s three public universities. Graduates are obligated to teach for one year in any high-needs school in Arizona. The first step toward program participation is to gain entrance into an eligible educational program at one of the participating universities. After acceptance the certification seeker can apply for the Arizona Teachers Academy through the participating institution.
