Interim authorization is suitable for those who hold a teaching certification from another state or country. Colorado state statute allows for the interim authorizations to be issued when a candidate meets the degree and program requirements, but still needs to fulfill additional requirements (usually a content exam or exams) for a full Colorado license. Interim authorization applies to out-of-state- and our-of-country applicant pursuing certification in Colorado as a first step to licensure. Interim Authorization also applies to the participants of a district-recognized educator exchange program, such as Spain Visiting Teacher Program, among others, which allows Colorado School districts to recruit highly qualified world language and bilingual teachers from Spain to teach at the elementary, middle and high school levels
