This route is for candidates who have a minimum of a master’s degree in the academic subject for which certification is sought; have five years of full-time teaching experience or its equivalent (90 semester credit hours) at an accredited institution of higher education in the academic subject for which certification is sought; and have an offer of employment from a Kentucky school district within the academic subject area for which certification is sought. A candidate meeting these requirements receives a one-year Provisional Internship Certificate. During the first year of teaching, the candidate must participate in the Kentucky Teacher Internship Program (KTIP). Upon successful completion of the internship, the candidate will receive the Professional Certificate.
