The state of Rhode Island requires a minimum of bachelor’s degree for certification. Certification in World Languages is available under the ‘All grades (PK-12)’ classification. Candidates must meet Rhode Island’s test scores (ETS) for Chinese (Mandarin), French, German, Latin, and Spanish. All other world languages are certified based on the Oral Proficiency Interview. Certification-seekers must demonstrate Advanced Low proficiency or higher.
