American Sign Language Instructor Permit (SD)

Description

The ASL Instructor permit allows applicants without a teaching degree to serve as instructors of American sign language. The applicants must demonstrate a score of intermediate or level 3 or higher on the Sign Language Proficiency Instrument, or hold a certification from the American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA). Additional requirements include 6 semester-hours of coursework including “Understanding deaf cultures” and “Understanding American Sign Language grammar”.
