Description

Out-of-state applicants who have a valid teaching license from another state, or have completed a teacher preparation program from an accredited institution of higher learning and their training is deemed equivalent to that offered by approved Minnesota teacher preparation programs, may qualify for a Tier 2 or Tier 3 license in Minnesota. An out-of-state teacher may apply for a Tier 2 license prior to passing the state-required content and pedagogy exams, if they have met all Tier 2 licensure requirements and have been offered a position by a Minnesota public or charter school. If an applicant took and passed the required state examinations in content and have least three years of experience teaching as the teacher of record in a K-12 classroom, they may qualify for a Tier 3 license bypassing a Tier 2 license.
