There are several guest teacher options for teachers of world languages to start teaching in Michigan, especially for those interested in teaching less commonly taught or minority languages. For details of each program, please, see Teaching in Taiwan Program and Chinese Language Teacher Exchange, Spanish Language Teacher Program, Tribal Language Teacher Program, Italian Language Teacher Program. Michigan also supports the Teachers of Critical Languages Program, a program which enables primary and secondary schools to strengthen their teaching of Mandarin and Arabic by bringing Chinese, Egyptian, and Moroccan, teachers to the U.S. to teach their native languages and culture for an academic year. The exchange teachers receive on-going methodological observation and training opportunities, live and work in an immersive English environment, and receive a certificate of participation following their exchange.
