Description

Traditional Connecticut certification route is usually based on completion of a state-approved educator preparation program. To obtain Connecticut educator certification based on program preparation, educators must successfully complete a state-approved planned program of general academic and professional education at a regionally accredited college or university, earn formal institutional recommendation for certification, and pass subject-specific tests for the endorsement requested. All teacher candidates completing preparation programs must meet minimum score requirements on the edTPA portfolio-based assessment. To meet this requirement, candidates prepare a portfolio of lesson plans, student work and other artifacts to submit for assessment as a part of the student teaching experience.
