In order to become professionally certified in Georgia, an educator must complete a state-approved educator preparation program. Upon completion of a GaPSC-approved educator preparation program and meeting GaPSC field experience and testing requirements, the individual qualifies for an Induction certificate. The Induction certificate is issued for 5 years but may be converted to a professional certificate after 3 years of successful educator experience. An employing Georgia local unit of administration may request a 3-Year Induction certificate for individuals holding a 5-Year Induction certificate who are assigned out of their primary field of certification.
