Ohio’s visiting international teacher programs support the State Board of Education’s vision that Ohio learners be “workforce ready and successfully participate in the global economy as productive citizens.” An Ohio school district may request a teaching license for a visiting teacher who is a citizen of another country. The candidate must be entering the United States specifically for the purpose of teaching in an Ohio school or school district that has agreed to employ the person as a teacher via an exchange program or other collaboration or recruitment effort. Currently, the Ohio Department of Education supports the Spanish visiting Teacher Program, the Teacher Exchange Program with France, and the Visiting Chinese Teacher from Taiwan Program.
