Description

The Emergency Hire Permit is issued to an unlicensed individual who wishes to teach in a Hawaii public school in a shortage area or hard to fill position when no licensed teacher is available. To qualify for an emergency hire permit, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or the equivalent from a non-U.S. institution and clear the professional fitness check. This permit is valid for one year and may be renewed twice for a total of up to three years while the applicant works to obtain their license.
