In school districts where a shortage of applicants exists for specific vacancies, there may be opportunities for individuals who do not hold a Professional Teaching Certificate to fill areas of critical need. These individuals work to complete a state-approved teacher preparation program while they are employed in the classroom. Individuals who are interested should contact local school districts to inquire about their areas of critical need for teachers. This permit may be issued to an individual who does not meet the requirements for the Professional Teaching Certificate, Student Support Certificate, or Administrative Certificate, but is enrolled in a state-approved educator preparation program and has been determined by the county superintendent to be the most qualified applicant for the position.
