In the state of Vermont, an applicant applying for initial licensure who has satisfactorily met all official requirements posted by the Vermont Agency of Education is granted a Level I Professional Educator License valid for 3 years. A Level II Professional Educator License is issued upon recommendation of a Local or Regional Standards Board to educators who practiced in Vermont in the endorsement area(s) for three (3) years under a Level I Professional Educator License and is valid for 5 years. In order to be valid, each license must have one or more endorsements which indicate the field(s) in which the holder is authorized to practice, and it must also specify the grade levels in which the holder is authorized to practice. Licensed Vermont educators are required to renew their licenses every 3 or 5 years. Educators employed in a Vermont school, renew/reinstate via their Local or Regional Standards Board.
